Cate Squash at SoCal Squash High School League

February 1, 2017

On Saturday, January 28 and Sunday, January 29, several members of the Cate squash team traveled to San Diego to play a day of matches – preparation for the SoCal High School Championships. The league was broken up into an A and B division and this time it was the Cate B team who got their turn on the court. Teams in each division have five players.

Cate’s B team was represented by Luca Kim ’19, Kate Bradley ’19, Carter Melnick ’18, Kenneth Liou ’20, and Stefan Suh ’19.

On Sunday, ten teams from Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, and San Diego all congregated at the San Diego Squash Club for a full day of squash. “There was not much time to sit and contemplate, never mind rest as the matches continued from early morning until early evening,” said Cate Coach Tim Thomas.

In the end, Cate went 2-2, dropping a hard-fought contest to two of the better teams in the tournament and beating two other teams handily.

Another group of Rams will hit the courts on Saturday, February 4 and Sunday, February 5, as the A team goes to Orange County to continue the momentum built by the B team.
