What is the Cate Fund?
The Cate Fund is our School’s annual giving program – and it is a vital part of Cate’s annual operating budget. Cate School is a non-profit organization. Therefore, apart from tuition, our key sources of revenue are generated by additional support through endowment income and the Cate Fund. Each year, loyal alumni, parents, and friends include Cate in their philanthropy, providing approximately 10% of the School’s operating budget.
From leadership to participation gifts, and everything in between, we are grateful for all gestures of support to the School. The Cate Fund runs from July 1 to June 30. If you have questions, are interested in becoming a Cate Fund volunteer, or would like to make a donation, please contact Katie Convoy.
Cate graduates are among the most loyal alumni in the country, and show their support in many ways: attending events, advocating for the Admissions Office when speaking with prospective families, connecting with fellow classmates through professional networking, and, of course, giving back.
Our alumni are consistently dedicated to giving back to the School – in time, talent, and dollars. Young alumni show their love for the School every year during March Magic. A friendly rivalry with Thacher, the month-long competition allows our recent graduates to contribute to the Cate Fund in a fun and meaningful way.
Cate Parents are some of the most generous in the nation. Every year, parents watch their children thrive in Cate’s welcoming and supportive environment. Students grow more enthusiastic, worldly, athletic, vibrant, respectful, creative, and mature than when they left home. With the knowledge that tuition covers only about 70% of the cost of a Cate education – many parents wish to “close the gap” for their children and others through gifts to the School.
The high level of support and participation that the School receives from current parents is an essential component when Cate submits grant requests to foundations. And of course, none of this would be possible without our wonderful team of Parent Fund Volunteers who work so hard by reaching out to fellow parents each fall. If you would like to make a gift or get involved as a parent fund volunteer, please contact Katie Convoy.
The Mesa Association
Leadership donors are true visionaries who make possible the aspirations of our faculty and students. Their yearly contributions provide necessary resources for the advancement and growth of Cate School. Established in 1975, the Mesa Association today recognizes donors who have made contributions of $2,000 or more to the Cate Fund. To inspire alumni of all ages to be philanthropic leaders, the Mesa Association is also open to graduates of the last 15 years who make a gift of $500 or more, and those graduates between 16 and 20 years who give $1,000 or more. These donors are recognized as members of the 1910 Society. Sincere thanks to our leadership level donors for their steadfast dedication to the goals and mission of Cate School.
