Unstoppable Cate Swim Team Dominates Invitational Meet

Overcoming Adversity and Making Waves in Ventura

The Cate Swim Team faced off against eight other teams in an invitational format in Ventura on Friday (4/12).

Head Coach Tobin White says, “We were missing an unusually large number of athletes due to illnesses and conflicts, especially on the girls’ side, and we weren’t sure we would be able to keep our unbeaten season alive. But this spirited and exceptionally deep team didn’t flinch. They shook off coughs and cold weather, stepped into unfamiliar events where they needed to balance our lineup, and got the job done. The boys managed to outscore all the other eight teams combined, something I’ve never seen before at a meet of this size. ”
The depleted girls’ squad won five of eight individual events and swept all three relays to take first place overall by a comfortable margin.

In the junior varsity meets, the Cate boys also came out on top in the overall scoring, while a small but determined girls’ team managed to take second place.
