Cate squashed the toads a second time this season with a strong 12-8 win for their last home game of the regular season. The team is hitting its stride at the right time as we head into the CIF playoffs next week. The best offense starts with a strong defense. And today, our defense was outstanding and helped us take the lead in the first quarter and never look back. We jumped to a 2-goal lead by the end of the half, which we then maintained. Our best game today came in the midfield transition starting with clears from Sanai Edwards ’25.

A few other highlights from our seniors include:
Riley Pan ’24 was a strong force in the circle with her draws and then on defense. Her calm nature and smart play instilled in the team to stay focused and protect the 8m. Sophie Alijani ’24, Shannon Murray ’24 and Mel Davidson ’24 were strong on crease defense and intercepting passes into the 8m. Sophie’s communication led the defense to continually crash on Thacher making it difficult for them to score. Eleni Bhatia ’24, a natural defender, was a threat on attack.

Coaches Comments: Overall it was a fun game to watch (we always love squashing the toads) and we look forward to CIF post-season play next week. This is a team that can surprise others with their hard-work and self-less play. I would love to see them make a run for the Div III title in the next few weeks. They deserve that chance. Thanks again to the fans for your support.
