The Cate baseball team improved to 3-2 with a nice 11-2 win over Ojai Valley School on Thursday, March 21st.
This was the Rams’ first game back from a two-week spring break, and it showed. Cate got off to a slow start but clicked later in the contest. Chase Meyer ’26 had three hits for the Rams. Noah Casbarro ’26 had two hits and two RBIs. Quinn Pullen ’25 had a triple and an RBI. Ethan Gibson ’25 and Barron Crayton ’26 also had singles on the day for the Rams. Cate was aggressive on the basepaths, swiping nine stolen bases.

Pullen ’25 got the start for the Rams and was solid. The right-hander went five innings, surrendered just one hit, gave up one earned run, and struck out 4. Josh Butler ’26 came in and slammed the door shut for Cate, surrendering two hits in two innings while striking out 4. Defensively, Alex Ke’ 27 and Peter Lehman ’25 made some great plays in the outfield for Cate. Casbarro ’26 was solid behind the plate, as well.

Coaches Comments: “It wasn’t our most well-played game, but today, I’m proud of our effort. We learned that even when we aren’t at our sharpest, we can still bear down and get the job done. This group is resilient and challenging; I’m so proud of their heart. We will learn from our mistakes today and improve as we progress toward league play.”

The Rams are back in action tomorrow in a non-league contest against Villanova. That game will be at Villanova at 4:00pm.
