Record: 2-2

Cate played San Marcos today in a league match at home. Although the team worked hard and improved their lacrosse IQ, it was not enough to pull out the win. As a team, we were determined to come out strong and win the first quarter. With 4 minutes left in the first quarter, Maia Holmes ’26 scored to even the score 1-1. It was hard to keep the momentum; Cate gave up 3 goals in the next two minutes and was not able to close the gap for the rest of the game. It was a great day for our defense, starting in the net. New goalie Sanai Edwards ’25 had 18 saves and earned the game ball for her tenacity and aggressive positioning.

Sophia Ospina ’25 also earned the game ball for her relentless hard work and aggressive attack. It must also be noted that Sophie Alijani ’24 was exceptional for her adaptation of a rover on defense. Her quick speed and smart play disrupted the attack. This was a game of hardwork, composure and grit, and our Juniors led the way. We were able to win 10/16 draws on the circle. Sam Jimenez ’25, Sophia Ospina ’25 and Lucy Guilbert-Neil ’25 dominated the pressure and connections in the midfield.
