Cate Tennis Soars Past Thacher with 14-4 Win

Bloom and Hirofuji Lead Charge with Stellar Performances

Cate school defeated Thacher at home today in league play 14-4. Cate played with some momentum after the Tuesday win over Camarillo, winning 8 out of 9 points in singles. Ethan Bloom ’24 had a solid day at number one singles while still recovering from a cold, winning against Thacher’s number one and two. Noah Bien ’27 subbed in for him against number three singles and got a win in his varsity debut. Go Noah!

Kakeru Hirofuji ’27 played his best tennis of the season so far, also winning against their top two players. Elias Lieser ’25 subbed in for him against Thachers number three and got a win. Felipe Blanco ’24 played number three singles for Cate and had another excellent day, winning two points and losing a close one against their number one. 

In doubles, Nate Newlove ’25 and Harry Su ’25 swept all three points at number one singles and showed off an improved net game. Watch out for them this season. Graham Clinger ’26e and James He ’27 played the number two spot and went 1-2. They almost beat Thacher’s number one team but lost it in a tiebreaker. Alex Gallegos ’25 and Kaden Greene ’27 played number three and went 2-1. 

Cate next plays Nordoff on Friday at home.
