The Cate Girls Varsity lacrosse team had a strong showing today in their first Channel League game against Santa Barbara with a 12-4 win. Despite struggling with the draw, Cate jumped to a 6-1 lead at the half due to strong play by Carmen Lack ’26 and Lauren Hubbs ’26 in the midfield. The team’s stick work improved as the game progressed, and they dominated the ground balls. Cate’s transitional play and off-ball movement were strong in the second half. It was a day for the sophomores: Lauren Hubbs, Carmen Lack, Maia Holmes ’26, and Claire Bianchi ’26 dominated the play. “I was also proud of Sanai Edwards ’25, who had four saves in her first Varsity game,” says Coach Mack.  The game balls went to Clair Bianchi and Val Madriz Montero ’25 for their exceptional hard work and growth on the field.
