Cate Boys Varsity Volleyball traveled to Dunn and, despite a slow start and a shaky end, won in 3 sets. In the first set, Cate had a slow start trying to settle in by passing a strong jump serve from Dunn’s setter. Lucien Tann ’26 stepped back to pass, and behind the setting of Mack Nieman ’25 and Patrick Wykoff ’27, the team was able to notch some needed points on the scoreboard with Ben Richmond ’24 and Niemann combining for six kills, while Max DeVore ‘ 24 and Wykoff combined for four service aces. Henry Bouma ’25 clamped on a couple of blocks. In the second set, Richmond dominated the first half of the game with five service aces and three kills off of setter Clyde Kye ‘ 24, setting the tone to steamroll through the set, winning 25-16. Nieman scored with three service aces, while Bouma followed with two kills. The third set started shaky with passing again, and Cate quickly fell behind 1-8. This set was riddled with unforced errors and struggles on defense by Cate, but the team found a way to stay positive, pull ahead, and finish the set 25-22 for the match win. Overall, even when falling behind, the team stayed mentally tough and worked with each other to find a way to turn things around when needed. Everyone contributed tonight; it was a genuine team effort.

Next up, Cate hosts St. Bonnie at 5:00 Thursday night.
