Cate (8-3, 1-2) drops home matchup to visit Dunn in a tough Tri-Valley League matchup. Dunn was led by Seal Diouf and Latif Diouf, who combined by 43 of Dunn’s 79.

We scouted and prepared for them well, but our 3rd quarter once again coming out flat did us in. I take responsibility for this loss in our rotations and for not keeping us fresh. Dunn is massive; their starting 5 consisted of 3 guys over 6’5”.

With just under 2 minutes in the first half, we trailed 31-28 with momentum in our favor, but unfortunately, back-to-back turnovers led to buckets for the Earwigs, and that 7-point deficit at the half continued to grow into the 3rd quarter.

A lot of positives tonight. In my heart and mind, I know we can play and compete with anyone, but we have to start recognizing scores, clock, and fouls in critical moments, such as at the end of a half.

We were led today by Jacob Gabbay ’25 and Marcus Scudder ’25 with 15 and 20. Jacob did a great job pushing the pace and knocking down three 3-pointers. Marcus was excellent in transition.

We are working on playing a full 32 minutes of intense and smart basketball. We showed that today in spurts.

Tyler Martinez ’24 finished with ten, and I credit Josh Butler ’26 for having his best game of the season from all perspectives: intensity, defense, focus, driving, and creating contact; he finished with 9.

We round out the first round of the Tri-Valley League on Friday at Santa Clara for a 6pm tipoff.
