Resilience Amidst Loss: Cate vs. St. Bonaventura 61-21

January 13, 2024

Strong offensive finish and gratitude for supporters

Lilli Whelan ’25

Ada Hansen ’24

The Cate girls varsity basketball team returned to Tri-Valley league action on Thursday night after a 28-day hiatus against a formidable opponent in St. Bonaventura. The Seraphs started the game on a 10-0 run and continued to extend their lead with phenomenal outside shooting and tenacious defense. Down a key contributor, the Rams struggled to adjust and keep up with the pace the Seraphs set.

Despite the lopsided score, the Rams did have bright spots in the strong performances of Lilli Whelan ’25, who led scorers with 8 points and 11 rebounds, and Ada Hansen ’24, who faced relentless defensive pressure the entire game while still maintaining her composure and leading our offense.

With the new year, the Rams will continue to face strong opposition from teams in the Tri-Valley league. But we look forward to getting back into the rhythm of playing together again and improving each day.

Thank you so much to all those who supported us and stayed until the game’s end. Thanks to your continued support and encouragement, we ended up having our strongest offensive performance in the final quarter.
