In a thrilling basketball showdown at the Brick House, the dynamic duo of Tyler Martinez ’24 and Marcus Scudder ’25 powered the Cate boys to a 67-62 victory over Bishop Diego on Wednesday (12/6). This intense crosstown clash marked the commencement of Tri-Valley League play for both the Rams and the Cardinals.

Coach Andy Gil praised Bishop Diego’s coaching prowess under James Coronado, acknowledging the significance of triumphing over a well-coached team. Martinez and Scudder emerged as key players, contributing a combined 49 points for Cate, showcasing their versatility with points in the paint and timely outside shots.

Highlighting their pivotal role, Coach Gil emphasized the responsibility shouldered by Martinez and Scudder as returning players from the previous year. Martinez’s outstanding performance included a game-high 27 points and an impressive 19 rebounds, demonstrating his physicality on both ends of the court.
