PRs Galore: Cate Cross Country Teams Soar

First, we wanted to say how proud we are of the girls and boys who competed yesterday (11/18). It took a ton of effort to rally after a long week of school in which you all finished the first trimester. The teams really gave it their all, and we were extremely proud of them.

The girls’ team finished 13th overall in D5. The girls have shown incredible effort throughout the season and come together as a team. They continued the streak of making it to the Southern Section finals, and Coach SoCo and I are so thankful for all their hard work. Francesca Sutch ’25 led the way, placing 17th in a new PR 19:29. Caroline Keohane ’24 finished 48th in 20:44, a season-best. Stella Rogers ’25 ran her second fastest time of the year, 21:16, followed by Coco Kliman ’26 in a PR of 22:44. Tallulah Bates ’25 and Riley Pan ’24 improved their times from the Prelims race. Tallulah finished in 23:57 and Riley in 24:10.

The boys’ team finished second in D5, one point out of first place. Our top five boys all set personal records. Sebastian Sutch ’24 at 14:45, Everest Schipper ’24 at 14:47, Ati Zwieback ’27 at 16:08, Oliver Lee at 16:29, and George Gordon ’24 at 16:32.  Jordan Ryan ’26 ran a fast time of 17:44, and Christian had a more difficult day, not feeling well but improved his time from the Prelims by 20 seconds. Despite the initial disappointment of not winning, they soon realized how well they did. The last Cate boys team to qualify was 18 years ago. They will run again next Saturday (11/18) at the State Finals at Woodward Park in Fresno.
