Cate students and fans who traveled to see the game.

Cate Girls Varsity Volleyball played in the CIF Division 6 Quarterfinals against Moorpark on Wednesday, October 25th.

The Rams fought hard in the first game, staying close to Moorpark throughout until Moorpark broke away at the end and won 25-22. Moorpark got off to an early lead in the second game, but the Rams clawed back and got within a few points before Moorpark closed out the second game 25-20. Moorpark broke away in the third game, getting an early lead and never looking back, winning 25-8.

“Hats off to Moorpark; they played complimentary volleyball and stayed aggressive on the service line. Our team played well for most of the match, but unfortunately, many of the ‘toss-up’ points did not go our way. We embraced the challenge and fought together as a unified front all the way to the end, which showed what our program was about when our backs were against the wall. Oyin Opawumi ’26 had 13 kills and hit .387, which was yet another impressively efficient night. Melanie Davidson ’24 led the team with ten assists and eight kills, leaving her fingerprint on the last game of the year. It’s a bummer to see this season end, especially with the seniors who led this team. The silver lining is we undoubtedly improved steadily throughout the season and had so many special moments in the face of adversity. Shoutout to seniors Simran Sharma, Josie Frazer, and last, but certainly not least, Melanie Davidson for helping lead this program to another successful year. ” said coach Jordon Dyer.
