The Cate baseball season came to a heartbreaking end this afternoon as the Rams fell on the road to the La Quinta Aztecs by a 3-2 score.
The two sides played an even game all afternoon long. Each squad scored in the first inning. La Quinta jumped ahead with two runs in the third. Cate came within one on a Peter Lehman ‘25 home run. The Rams twice had a runner on third in the 7th inning, but were unable to bring home the tying run.
At the plate, Cate was paced by Lehman ‘25 and Chase Meyer ‘26, who had three hits. Noah Casbarro ‘26, Quinn Pullen ‘25, Jonah Van ‘28, and Andrew Tanner ‘27 all had hits for Cate.
Pullen ‘25 got the start and was amazing. His final outing in a Cate uniform was a memorable one, as the right hander spun 6 innings and struck out 10.
This one hurts, mostly because we have to say goodbye to an amazing group of kids. These guys showed heart and fight all season and tonight was no exception. They fought and clawed all season and I hope they carry that lesson with them forever. I’m so proud of this team and I thank them, especially our seniors, for an amazing year.
