September 18, 2025

The Cate girls volleyball team put together a strong all-around performance Thursday night (9/18), defeating Villanova Prep in straight sets.

The Rams edged out a competitive first set with several lead changes before closing strong for a 25-22 win. In the second, Cate pulled away midway through behind a few service runs to take control, 25-18. The Rams then jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the third and never looked back, finishing the sweep with a dominant 25-13 victory.

“Great showing for us tonight. Several players stepped up and we improved overall as a team which was great to see,” head coach Jordon Dyer said. “Sophomore Evan Walters went on a great run with 4 aces at the service line, that was awesome of her to come in and make those plays. Senior Oyin had 13 kills with only 1 error on 33 attempts along with 7 digs and 3 aces. Senior Emerson Evans and sophomore Cassidy Rose both tallied 6 kills, while senior Elise Tsai (14) and junior KayKay Ercil (12) did an outstanding job leading the team in assists.”

Set scores: 25-22, 25-18, 25-13

Cate will return home Friday (9/19) to take on Grace.
