Parker Lawlor joined the Cate community as a computer science instructor, lacrosse and soccer coach, and dorm resident. Prior to arriving at Cate, Parker taught computer science at Deerfield Academy, where he also coached lacrosse and soccer. While at Deerfield, Parker received his master’s degree in education from the University of Pennsylvania. Much of his focus as a teacher is centered around how to cultivate a team environment and a community of learners in his classroom.

Growing up in San Diego, Parker is thrilled to be back in California. He left California to attend Middlebury College in Vermont, where he majored in computer science and geography and played lacrosse. As a senior, Parker received the Baggataway Award for spirit and leadership, was selected to the NESCAC All-Sportsmanship team, and over his time at Middlebury was a three-time NESCAC All-Academic team selection.

Parker enjoys anything and everything outside, particularly surfing, mountain biking, and hiking. He hopes to help students become the best versions of themselves. He also aims to help students and student-athletes realize that no matter what situation they are faced with, they can always control their attitude, effort, and actions.
