Girls Tennis
The Cate girls’ varsity tennis program has earned a reputation as one of the best in the country when it comes to performance from a boarding school environment. Building on a streak of 14 consecutive playoff appearances, the team peaked at #46 out of 373 schools in the country’s most competitive section (CIF-Southern Section) for 2025.
During that 14-year streak dating back to 2012, the team holds a 136-27 regular season record with numerous CIF Quarterfinal or better appearances, including the D3 CIF Championship in 2023. The team also saw players reach the CIF Individuals Doubles Round-of-16 twice (Jackie and Carol Cai 2017, Grace Fuss/Carol Cai 2019), Round-of-32 (Lisa Hasebe/Jade Wang 2024), and Round-of-64 (Lisa Hasebe/Ivy Huang 2025).
While high performance is an integral part of the Cate girls’ tennis experience, the program puts significant priority on sportsmanship and camaraderie, which often results in players leaving Cate considering tennis one of the highlights of their experience.
Between the varsity and junior varsity squads, Cate girls tennis is equipped to provide a fun and enriching experience for elite players, players hoping to rise to tournament-level play, and those who are interested in learning tennis for purely recreational/social purposes.
