The Cate Rams faced a tough opponent yesterday, falling to the Foothill Tech Dragons in three sets, 25-5, 25-14, 25-13.
After a rocky opening set, the Rams settled in and came out with much more fight in the second. Cate battled neck and neck with the Dragons early before Foothill Tech created separation behind several aggressive serving runs. Heading into the third set, the Rams made some lineup changes in hopes of creating a new spark, but the Dragons continued to challenge us with strong attacking and consistent pressure from the service line.
Senior hitters Tori Kim and Maddie Kollock each contributed two kills, while junior Cassidy Rose led the Rams with three. Setter Vivi Delaney led the team with two service aces while also leading the offense in assists. Cassidy was also a steady presence in serve receive, finishing the night with a 2.1 passing rating.
Foothill Tech played strong defense throughout the match and made it difficult for the Rams to establish a consistent offensive rhythm. Despite the loss, we saw a much stronger response from our team after the opening set and moments of the fight we know this group is capable of bringing.
We look forward to using this match as an opportunity to grow over the next few weeks and returning to the court with renewed energy and spirit.
