Playoff Bound With Win Over Thacher

Cate 13- Thacher 10

It is always a good day when Cate squashes our rival toads in a convincing 13-10 win. Cate started off strong by winning the first two draws and scoring on each possession. However, Thacher was quick to retaliate. The game continued to be close until the third quarter when Cate was able to jump ahead to a 5 goal lead. Lauren Hubbs and Maia Holmes carried the team on the field both earning the team balls after the game, they simply elevated the level of play. There are several players to highlight. On defense, Maree Hawkins stepped up big with several smart plays and midfield connections in the transition. Posie Hexner also had 4 forced turnovers from checks from behind – her defense was simply great. Chelsea Newlove had two perfect clears. And Belu Salvado scored her first goal. Overall, the team made it harder on ourselves than it needed to be, but at this point in the season, a win is a win – especially against a rival Thacher. And, now, we look forward to a post-season CIF run. Thank you to all the parents who came to support.
