Cate Rams Celebrate Seniors on Family Weekend

Today the Cate Rams celebrated their 9 seniors during the pre-game ceremonies prior to their Tri-Valley League contest with the Chadwick School from Palos Verdes. Unfortunately, the Rams were slow to get out of the gate with the Dolphins jumping on the Rams early, reaching pay dirt on a 64 yard touchdown pass on just the second play from scrimmage. The Dolphins would score again after a Rams punt to put Cate in an early 14-0 hole. The Rams would answer on the ensuing drive when quarterback Sam Lambiotte connected with Oliver Charvel on a 10 yard TD pass to cap an 8 play scoring drive.

The Rams would find themselves in trouble again after a Chadwick score followed by a fumble leading to another score. However, Cate would settle down and Lambiotte would find Chase Meyer for big gains on consecutive plays. The second of which was a huge 35 yard touchdown going into halftime. Quincy Thorne added his second PAT on the day to cut the deficit to 34-14 The Dolphins answered with a quick strike of their own making the halftime score 41-14.

After the break, the Rams’ struggles continued with another fumble leading to a Chadwick safety. The Rams bright spot on defense came with a Nolan Montoya interception early in the fourth quarter, however Cate was not able to capitalize. Cate would end up falling behind 55-14 before a wild last play closed out the game. Sophomore running back Kunqui Wang took an end around all the way to the house on a 65 yard run, his first career touchdown. The final whistle blew and the Rams were left on the wrong side of a 55-20 score.

The Rams will travel to Sage Hill on Friday night for their second TVL contest of the season. Kickoff in Newport Beach is set for 6pm.
