The Cate School Swim Team defeated Nordhoff High School today at home by scores of 136-39 (Girls) and 182-25 (Boys). Tori Kim ’27 (200 Individual Medley, 100 Back) and Emi Kanda-Gleeson ’27 (100 Butterfly, 100 Breaststroke) picked up two individual event wins each for the girls. Amber Lam ’29 added a victory in the 50 freestyle while Makayla Niu ‘27 won the 100 freestyle. Adele Tan ’29 was part of two winning relays, teaming with Kanda Gleeson, Lam and Niu in the 200 Freestyle Relay and with Alena Ballat ’27 and Captains Jen Won ’26 and Maddie Kollock to win the 400 Freestyle Relay. And Kim, Kanda-Gleeson, and Niu joined Sofia Wang ’27 for a win in the 200 Medley Relay.
In the boys’ meet, Wil Rivera ’27 (200 Individual Medley, 500 Free) and Mo Kanda-Gleeson ‘26 (100 Butterfly, 100 Breaststroke) were both double event winners. Elliot Paige ’26 won the 50 Freestyle, Jae Wykoff led the field in the 100 Freestyle, and Josiah Hansen picked up the victory in the 100 Backstroke. In relay action, Oliver White ’29 teamed with Hansen, Liam Moes ‘29 and birthday boy Devon Liang ’27 to win the 200 Medley Relay. Wykoff and Paige joined Tristan Maigret ’26 and Fletcher Prince ’28 to win the 200 Freestyle Relay. And finally, Liang, Hansen, Charlie Guo ’29 and Maddox Tanaka ’27 swam to victory in the 400 Freestyle Relay to close out the meet.
Against a small team from Nordhoff, a number of Cate swimmers mixed up their regular meet lineups to try new events, and quite a few put up new times on the all-time Cate top ten lists along the way:
