Rams Stay Undefeated 11-0

April 20, 2026

Season record: 11-0

Today, your Cate School Boys Varsity Tennis team played our second-to-last match of the regular season at home against the Carpinteria High School Warriors. Starting was Alex Danely ’28, Kendrick Suen ’28, and Noah Bien ’27 at one, two, and three, and a doubles lineup of James He ’27/Kenny Wang ’27, Kiy Barry ’26/Graham Clinger ’26, and Ramsey Bolton ’29/Nolah Hsing ’29 at one, two, and three.
In doubles, He/Wang and Bolton/Hsing won their six sets with both teams going 6-0, 6-1, 6-1. Notably, He/Wang only lost two points in their first set (compared to 24 won). Clinger/Barry won two sets with the same score as their teammates, 6-0, 6-1, before subbing in Kakeru Hirofuji ’27/Nathan Koh ’27 to play a set. In his first varsity match since freshman year, Koh fulfilled Hirofuji’s wish to play together, and the duo won their set 6-1.
In singles, Danely won two sets quite handily, 6-0 and 6-2. Suen added another bagel to the list, winning 6-0, and subbed out for Kaden Greene ’27, who won his set 6-1 off the bench. Bien won his two sets 6-0 and 6-2. As a sweep against us by the opposing singles one was undesirable, the fabled Bruce Li ’28 subbed in for the final round winning 6-1.
The team’s win streak has extended to 11 in a row, and we are currently ranked 25th in the entire Southern Section as of this evening’s rankings. Our final regular-season matchup is a home game against the 20th-ranked Oak Park next Wednesday.
