Cate Swimming defeated Tri Valley League rival Foothill Tech yesterday by scores of 172-124 in the boy’s meet and 115-101 on the girls’ side.
Emi Kanda-Gleeson ’27 set a new Cate School record, besting her own standard from last year with a new time of 1:01.60 in the 100 backstroke. She also picked up a win in the 200 individual medley. Other individual winners for the Cate girls included Jen Won ’26 (100 fly, 500 free), Maddie Kollock ’27 (100 free) and Sofia Wang ’28 (100 breaststroke). Those four swimmers teamed with to win the 200 medley relay, while Tori Kim ’27 subbed in for Wang on the winning 400 freestyle relay.
On the boys’ side, Jae Wykoff ’26 (50 free, 100 free), Mo Kanda-Gleeson ’26 (200 IM, 100 back) and Wil Rivera ’27 (200 free, 100 fly) were all double event winners. Josiah Hansen ’27 (500 free) and Devon Liang ’27 (100 breast) won one each to sweep the remaining individual races. Hansen and Rivera teamed with Tristan Maigret ’26 and Fletcher Prince ’28 to win the 200 medley relay. Wykoff, Prince and Maigret were joined by captain Elliot Paige ’26 on the winning 200 freestyle relay. And Hansen, Rivera, Charlie Guo ’29 and Maddox Tanaka ’27 combined for first in the 400 freestyle relay.
Cate is back in action next week when they host Nordhoff on Thursday.
