Cate Falls to Laguna Blanca

March 2, 2026

The Cate Rams traveled to Laguna Blanca for an away match and fell in a competitive four-set battle. After a hard-fought first set loss (20–25), Cate responded with resilience, earning a tightly contested 27–25 victory in the second set to even the match at one set apiece.

Offensively, the Rams were led by outside hitter Lucian Tann with 10 kills and middle blocker Rowan Foster with 6 kills. Philip Choi made a strong impression in his first appearance on the outside position, contributing 5 kills in his debut.

Defensively, the team showed growth as the match progressed. After a slower start in the back row, the Rams elevated their defensive intensity and finished strong. Kunqi Wang anchored the defense with a team-high 16 digs, and Lucian Tann contributed 8 digs of his own. From the service line, Patrick Wykoff led the way with 21 service attempts and 2 aces, while Rowan Foster added 3 aces on 9 attempts.

Despite the momentum gained in the second set, Cate was unable to gain the upper hand in the final two sets, falling 18–25 and 20–25.

With only two matches played this season, the growth and development of this young squad are already evident. The Rams look forward to continuing to build and compete as the season progresses.
