March 27, 2026

Season record: 5-0 (4-0 league)

Today, your Cate School Boys Varsity Tennis team faced the Bishop Diego Cardinals in a league match-up at home. The Rams easily took down the Cardinals, improving their season record to 5-0 and their overall sets record to a whopping 78-12, making it two years in a row now that Cate has swept Bishop 18-0. I’ll keep it brief, since you’ll likely be hearing from me again tomorrow.
Starting in singles, our lineup was Andrew Jayich ’28, James He ’27, and Kaden Greene ’27 at one, two, and three, respectively. In doubles, our pairings were Kenny Wang ’27/Kendrick Suen ’28, Ramsey Bolton ’29/Alex Danely ’28, and Kiy Barry ’26/Graham Clinger ’26 again at one, two, and three, respectively. In the first round of play, the team collectively lost only one game, putting us up 6-0 very early. For the second round of play, Nolan Hsing ’29 subbed for Jayich, while Noah Bien ’27/Ian Sheshunoff ’26 relieved Wang/Suen. The Rams had a dominant showing for the next two rounds, winning all 12 sets. Greene, Jayich, Hsing, and Wang/Suen all had perfect records, dropping no games. This was Greene’s first time donning the singles position, and he certainly did not disappoint, going 3-0 (18-0). As a team, only nine games were conceded in total, a stark contrast to the 96 games won.
This was a dominant showing by the Rams despite the unfamiliar lineup. Thank you to everyone who came out to support us; we will be back in action same time tomorrow afternoon.
