Rams Run Riot Against Coast Union

December 15, 2025

On a overcast Saturday afternoon, your Cate Rams played their second league game of the season when they hosted the Coast Union Broncos on Meldman field. Coming off their first victory of the season, the Rams were looking to make it two in a row.

Today’s starting 11 looked like this: Sophomore Goal Keeper Alejandro Sandoval between the sticks. The back 4 was made up of Sophomore Shirdon Nouh, Junior Aydin Barry, and Teke Meisel, and anchored by the leadership and expertise of Senior Charlie Dorion. The midfield was trio of freshman Alden Rosenfield, Senior Quincy Thorne, and making his 2025-26 season debut, Senior Dimash Anuarbek. The attacking trio was led by Junior Miles Thompson, and Seniors George Marin and Kiy Barry.

This is the first ever meeting between these two teams so in the first few minutes of the match both teams were feeling each other out. In the 8th minute of the game, George opened the scoring with an assist from Miles to give us an early lead. With early momentum on their side your Rams pressed forward in an attempt to extend their lead. The Broncos settled in and played team defense and managed to prevent more Ram goals. Cate created multiple scoring chances but were unable to cash any in until the 37th minute when George scored his second of the game off a beautiful pass from Charlie to give us a 2-0 lead at the half.

In the second half the scoring floodgates opened up and your Rams went on a scoring rampage. George added 3 more goals in the 45th, 46th, 52nd minute to extend our lead to 5 and finish with 5 goals in the day. Playing only 10 minutes per half as he makes his way from an injury, Dimash scored his first goal of the season in the 48th minute when he unleashed a wicked left footed shot that the Bronco keeper could not contain, after a quick battle for the rebound Dimash collected a loose ball and deposited it the back to net to make it a 6-0 game. The Rams were not done, in the 54th minute Senior Emil Arconian sent a beautiful cross into the 6 yard box that found the head of a streaking Quincy to further extend our lead. Not to be outdone, Charlie D joined the rest of the scoring Senior captains and scored two of his own in the 57th minute off an assist from Q, and capped the day’s scoring in the 72nd minute when a made an unassisted run from the midfield for his second of the day and sealed the solid 9-0 victory.

Today’s win was very special because all of our offensive explosion came from our Fantastic 4 Senior Captains (Charlie, George, Dimash, and Quincy). Talk about leading by example, they definetly did that today. They demostrated leadership and helped our younger players by showing how making some adjustments and working as a unit can change the tempo of the game. The first and second halves were night & day. We got some quality minutes from everyone today. Ale & Braedo combined for the clean sheet. Nicolas W-DLC played well for us today, Emil came in and had a great assist, Oliver created a couple of great scoring chances, Nathan gave us some good minutes in the midfield, and Jordan created some offensive opportunities and earned a PK chance. Like Coach Molina said to me earlier, “we are starting to gel” We are still waiting for senior Kamil Abdul-Nafeo, Aidan Free & Lawrence Zhang to return from injury so we can’t wait to be fit and add depth to our team.

We have some good opponents next week so we’ll be able to gauge where we are really are as a team. We have back to back games on Tuesday at Oaks Christian and Wednesday @ Fillmore. Huge THANK YOU to those of you that came out to support us today.
