Girls Varsity Water Polo Cate vs Louisville
Yesterday, our Cate girls’ water polo team traveled to LA for a matchup with Louisville High School. The final score was a 15-4 loss, bringing our regular season record to 1-2. Louisville is a well-coached, talented group that played physical, tough water polo for four quarters. We were able to make some nice adjustments down the stretch and play with some increased intention and effort, but it was too little too late.
Betsy Peters provided a great offensive spark for our group. Her front-court movement and assertive attacking focus landed her two goals, a drawn penalty, and an assist. She and Maria Salyards had the give-and-go working for them all second half. I am eager to see their chemistry continue to blossom throughout the season. We were blessed with the return of Senior Captain Carmen Lack and Junior Michelle Wu after an extended, successful cross-country season. Their leadership, experience in the pool, and energy will continue to be valuable assets to our group. 9th-grade goalkeeper Amber Lam had another terrific showing, tallying nine saves from the net and notching her first career assist.
Our next matches will be on Friday and Saturday, December 12th & 13th, when we travel to Ventura for a four-game tournament. Go Rams!
