Flintridge Prep 14 20 6 6
The Cate Rams traveled to take on the #1 ranked Flintridge Prep Wolves to conclude the regular season for a rare Thursday night game. Coming out of the gate it was a back and forth affair with both teams trading punches. The Rams went three and out on their opening drive only to see Flintridge Drive down to the 5 yard line before Oliver Charvel forced and recovered a fumble. The ensuing Ram drive would stall and Flintridge would strike first. Following a 23 yard touchdown pass for Flintridge they would go on to score 34 unanswered points. The Rams struggled to find their momentum for much of the first half while Flintridge showed their championship form.
The second half was a bit of a different story. On the opening drive, the Rams forced a turnover on downs when junior cornerback Nolan Montoya broke up a critical fouth down pass. It would take the Rams only three plays to punch their ticket on a spectacular one handed touchdown catch by Chase Meyer. Quincy Thorney would add the extra point to make it 34-7. The Rams would add another score when Thorne drilled a 30 yard field goal late in the 3rd quarter. Sophomore defensive back demonstrated how bright the future could be for the Rams as he lead the team in tackles on the day. In the fourth quarter, sophomore quarterback Sam Lambiotte closed out the scoring with a 23 yard run on a keeper up the middle giving the Rams one last touchdown, closing out the game with a final score of 46-17.
The Rams now wait to find out their playoff fate on Sunday when CIF announces the football brackets. With one of the strongest strength of schedule ratings in the state, and currently ranked #14 overall, the team has made a real case for inclusion in the post-season.
