Rams Drop Close Battle to Dons, 6-5

September 11, 2025

Yesterday, September 11th, our Cate Boys’ varsity water polo team traveled to Santa Barbara High School for our second non-league match of the season. With only two practices under our belt, we were back in action after a week in the back country. This was a back-and-forth battle as both teams played stifling team defense, making it very difficult to find scoring opportunities. As we continue to get back into shape, I think some of our uncharacteristic breakdowns down the stretch will be fixed.

Senior Captain Sebastian Brine led the scoring output for us, finding his shot in the front court and on the counterattack. Seb has been a steady scorer for us the past few seasons, and we look forward to seeing what he accomplishes in his senior campaign. The younger Brine, Emmanuel, provided a ton of energy for us all game. He found the back of the net on a post-up, drew multiple exclusions, and earned a penalty for us. Emman has proven himself as the ‘engine’ of our front-court attack and should continue to have big performances going forward on his spark alone.

Looking ahead, we will travel to Rio Mesa High School on September 16th before our home opener next Thursday. Go Rams!
