Girls Lacrosse vs Santa Barbara High School

April 26, 2021

Cate 13- Santa Barbara High School 2

Cate showed up at Santa Barbara’s Peabody Stadium under the lights ready to leave their mark. They controlled the draw and possession leading to a 13-2 win over the Dons.  The focus of our play today was to control the midfield by connecting passes, forcing turnovers through double and triple teams, and then finishing by purposely placing our shots on the net. Once again, I could not be more proud of the selfless teamwork and incredible efforts from each player. We put into practice our goals and we were able to cause 11 forced midfield turnovers and score 13 of 19 shots on goal. Overall, we are improving daily and having great fun.  Our next game is Wednesday in Ojai at Nordoff High School. I look forward to another great afternoon with this team. The team is 2-0.

A few highlights include:

  • The Lilly-Lily attacking duo. Fun to watch and impossible to defend. The two girls worked selflessly together to account for nine of our goals.

  • Josie Erickson, Ali Istanbullu, Phebe Hancock were on a mission in the midfield. Considering that we played 10 v 10, Josie, Ali, and Phebe were responsible for filling in the gaps and being the outlets for all transitional play.

  • Riley Pan ’24 and Ellie Tunnell played with 100% heart and effort. They were the backbone of the midfield structure and defensive turnovers.

  • Jasmine Palekar ’24 and Ingrid Lu ’24 rocked the attack by owning ground balls and working hard off the ball to get free and make solid cuts.

  • Stats:

  • Lilly Riehl ’21 – 5 goals 3 assists 9 draws
