Baseball vs Newbury Park Adventist

April 12, 2021

Playing its first home game in two years, the Cate baseball team handled business and came away with a victory against Newbury Park Adventist by a score of 11-1 in a 5 inning contest.

The Cate pitchers held the Gators to just one hit on the afternoon. Daniel Panadero ’21 picked up the victory for Cate and tallied 5 strikeouts in 2 innings. Tyler Tom ’22 spun 2 scoreless innings of relief, and Cooke Tarleton ’21 closed things out with 2 strikeouts in his one inning on the mound.
William Deardorff ’21 led Cate at the plate going 4-4 with a double, 3 runs scored, and an RBI. Matty Holmes ’22 had 2 hits and an RBI, while Panadero ’21 doubled for Cate. John Endres ’22 had a single and Liam Burdock ’24 kicked off his Cate career with a two-hit performance.
Regardless of the outcome, it was great to be back on the field for game action. The return to play was made even better by a solid team performance. And while we still have plenty to work on, this was a great first step in our season.
Thank you to the families and members of the Cate community who came out to watch. Special thanks to Mr. Ransom, Mr. Vega, and everyone who had to go the extra mile to put this game on given all of this COVID craziness.
