Baseball vs Newbury Park Adventist

April 22, 2021

The Cate School baseball team improved to 2-0 on Wednesday, April 21 with an 11-0 victory over Newbury Park Adventist. It was the second time this season the Rams beat the Gators.

At the plate, Tyler Tom ’22 had three hits, two runs scored, and an RBI. Daniel Panadero ’21 had two hits, including a triple, and four RBIs. Declan Forest ’24 had two hits and John Endres ’22 reached base all three times.
Forest ’24 got the start on the mound for Cate and threw two scoreless innings. The right-handed freshman walked three and struck out three. He was followed in relief by fellow freshman Liam Burdick, who spun two innings of shut-out baseball while tallying three strikeouts. Theo Hansen ’22 closed the game out for the Rams in a perfect 5th inning, including 2 strikeouts.
We did a lot of good things in this game. There are little things we need to improve on, but I think we played really well. I was really pleased that every player on the team saw action on the field, including Tonfai Nokhong ’24, who played in her first baseball game ever!
The Rams will head to Ojai to take on Thacher School on Saturday, April 24 at 3pm.
