Boys Varsity Volleyball vs Carpinteria

February 26, 2020

The Cate boys volleyball team beat Carpinteria in 3 sets in a non-league match 25-18, 25-16, 25-20 in their first contest of the season. Everyone was able to get on the court and contribute to the win tonight.

Senior captain Theo Mack led the team earning half of the 33 kills on the night, added 2 blocks and scored double digits on digs with 10. Senior hitters Ethan Ng and Khadim Pouye combined for 10 kills, with Ng tossing in some really short serves to earn 4 aces. Junior Albert Barber did a great job running the offense as the sole setter for the night and also scooped up 7 digs, notched 2 kills and 3 service aces. Junior Ryan Suh and senior Jackson Weinberger anchored the back row with solid defense earning 9 and 5 digs respectively. Junior Nkemka Chukwumerijie showed some steady improvement at the middle position throughout the evening and secured 2 kills, 2 blocks, and a dig.

With very little practice leading up to the match, it was great to see the team settle in and work together on and off the court. There is a lot of athleticism and potential with each player on the team, and we look forward to seeing what we can accomplish as a whole the rest of this season.
The team will head into a two-week spring break at the end of this week and be back in action on March 17 with a non-league match at home against Nordoff.
