Girls Varsity Soccer vs Grace Brethren

January 15, 2020

On Tuesday afternoon, the girls varsity soccer team traveled down to Simi Valley to play the Grace Brethren Lancers. They are a strong team with an excellent set of center midfielders. We held them to a 0 – 1 score in the first half and played hard. Our team was determined, resilient and after every tackle, we got right back in the game. I’m so proud of their effort right until the final whistle. However, our primary strategy this season has been to pass through our own talented midfield and Grace Brethren simply broke up our game each time we attempted to play possession. Yes, the field was not ideal and yes, the drive was long and yes, the other team was playing well, but if our quick passing and first touch had been better, we definitely could have accomplished more. As a result, we’re looking forward to our rematch at home at the end of the month.

This game came at the perfect point in the season to serve as an important learning opportunity for how to play at this higher level in the Tri-Valley League. This Thursday we take on the equally talented St. Bonaventure at home – kickoff is at 3:30 – and we are expecting a really good game.
