Girls Varsity Volleyball vs West Valley

October 27, 2019

Palm Springs was just down the road from the West Valley gym which posed a tough decision for Cate, do the Rams head to the desert oasis for poolside fun and shopping, or head to the hot gym for the second round of CIF playoffs……the Rams chose to play.
The 4 1/2 hour road trip didn’t seem to phase Cate, the team was on a mission to win and it showed in the decisive sweep. Grace Johnson ’21 and Maya Blattberg ’20 led the team with ten kills apiece, Riley Borchardt ’21 had seven kills. The rest of the hitters did a nice job collecting points as well. Chidera Chukwumerije ’22 and Kenzie Davidson ’20 shared four apiece, while Elise Guerrand-Hermes ’22 followed with five kills.
A key factor to the successful balance of kills was the solid passing of Elise and libero Grace Blankenhorn ’20. It was Blankenhorn who led in digs with 19, Borchardt followed with 16.
The team will be back on the road again, traveling to Moreno County to play Valley View in the quarters.
Final Scores – 25-15, 25-20, 25-18
