Cate Midfielder Named All American

May 7, 2019

On Tuesday, May 7, Cate junior Buba Fofanah ’20 was named to the 2019 Allstate All-America Soccer team. According to a release provided by the Allstate Cup, Buba was chosen in collaboration with Allstate and MaxPreps to an elite group of soccer players who have demonstrated great play on the pitch. Buba was one of 125 male and 125 female soccer players from around the country to be named to this team. At a later date, 40 males and 40 females will be selected to the inaugural Allstate All-America Cup, which will take place in the summer in conjunction with the Major League Soccer All-Star Game presented by Target. This year, the game will be played in Orlando, Florida on July 31.

Cate head coach Pete Mack praised Buba for all of his hard work and the effort he has put in to reach this milestone. “Buba is one of the most competitive players I’ve coached. He’ll work to the point of exhaustion and then some. Coupled with his speed and field sense, that’s really hard on opponents.”

This is not the only honor this season for Fofanah ’20. The junior was also named to the first team All Tri-Valley League.
