July 21, 2017

ARCHITECTURE

Janice Ng ’18 is interning at the Boston architecture firm Leers Weinzapfel. The rising senior who has dreamed of becoming an architect for some time, has found that she “actually enjoy[s] this field of work.” Janice says the internship has taught her a lot and that “Digital Arts classes with Mrs. Furmanski prepared me well.” Janice’s month-long internship has her designing on the computer using SketchUp, a 3D modeling software.

JOURNALISM

After completing a TV and film internship in Mexico City, Will Borghesani ’18 headed to Columbia University, for an editorial leadership course with “students from all around the country, who were all rising editors of their school’s respective newspapers.” Will says that he learned about creating a better and more engaging school newspaper. Advice included “selling news to potential readers as if you are selling a product to a potential client or customer,” and ” to include stories that are only related to the school in a specific way.”

COMMUNICATIONS

On the Mesa, Sophie Johnson ’18 and Ethan Ha ’20 are doing important work for the Communications Office and the Cate Archives by tagging years’ worth of images. The pair is putting names to faces and places in thousands of photos from 2015-2017. Their efforts allow administrators to search for and find images for projects, marketing, and alumni requests. As current students, Sophie and Ethan are lightning-fast when it comes to identifying their classmates and campus activities.
