Baseball vs Bishop Diego

The Cate baseball team dropped a tough 2-1 ball game at Bishop Diego on Wednesday, April 27. The loss pushes the Cate’s league record to 2-3.

The Rams bats were stifled all day by the strong Bishop hurler. Ethan Cassulo ’19 had the best day of for the Rams, collecting two hits on the day. The lone Cate run came when Chris Bennett ’18 showed some aggressive base running and capitalized on a few Cardinal miscues.

Cassulo ’18 got the start on the mound for Cate, his first of the year. The right-hander had a strong outing, going four innings, walking one, and giving up justĀ one unearned run. He was relieved by Jack Deardorff ’19 who also gave up an unearned run in two innings of work. The Rams saw great defensive plays from Scott Holmes ’20, Emily Burns ’18, Bryce Huerta ’17, and Joel Revo ’17.

“This was a very well-played ballgame. We played a very good team and I thought we handled it well. They made a few great plays that we didn’t but I’m proud of our effort,” said Cate Assistant Coach Dave Soto.

The two sides will clash again on Friday, April 28 at Cate. First pitch is for 3:30 p.m.
