Cate Swimming vs Carpinteria

On Friday, March 24, the Cate swim team captured its first dual-meet win of the season against Carpinteria. Apart Iyer ’17, Lila Dressler ’17, Marissa Strauss ’20, and Halie Straathof ’17 opened the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay. Straathof ’17 continued the momentum with her second win in the 50 freestyle, going 1-2 with teammate Flora Hamilton ’17 while being the only individual of the meet to qualify with a CIF consideration time for Division 3.

Ella Hendricks ’19 rounded out Cate’s dominance in the sprints by winning the 100 freestyle. Tilly Bates ’18 answered back in the distance event by winning the 500 freestyle. Hendricks ’19, Bates ’18, Dressler ’17, Hamilton ’17, and Straathof ’17 wrapped up their final wins of the meet in the 200 and 400 freestyle relays.

On the boys’ side, Julien Maes ’17 easily won both the 200 and 500 freestyles. Marcos Brasil ’20 won the 50 freestyle in his first ever race for the Rams. Maes ’17, Brasil ’20, Victor Vasquez ’19, and Kaiser Ke ’19 teamed up to win the 200 freestyle relay and qualified with a CIF consideration time.

The Rams are back in the pool on Wednesday, March 29 when they welcome the Villanova Wildcats to the Mesa. That meet will start at 3 p.m.
