Boys Varsity Basketball vs Pacifica Christian

February 27, 2017

The Cate boys varsity basketball team wrapped up an exciting season on Tuesday, February 21 with a 79-62 loss against Pacifica Christian from Orange County.

“We played them even the last three quarters – a little nervous and adrenaline pumping strong in the first quarter got us off to a slow start. We got incredible looks at the rim and our aggressiveness was definitely something to be proud of. Unfortunately we just couldn’t capitalize from the free throw line,” said Cate Head Coach Andy Gil.

The number two ranked Tritons used a potent offensive and aggressive defense to jump out ahead of the Rams early on. “Proud of our guys for stepping up and challenging themselves on each and every shot,” said Gil.

While Cate was down, they never stopped playing. Five times in the game Cate was able to cut their lead to twelve, only to have Pacifica Christian respond by hitting a three or extending it back to fourteen.

“Incredible season for Cate basketball, it was fun and I look forward to returning eight guys next year,” Gil added.

Marko Pliso ’18 led the Rams with 25 points. Mason Mackall ’17, Pierce Lundt ’17, Chase McCaw ’17, and Bryce Huerta ’17 all played well in their final contest in a Cate uniform.
