(Sandpiper Golf Course)
The Class of 1978 invites you to join the annual Camp Cate golf tournament. Come with a foursome or let us assign you to one. Prizes will be awarded at the end of the day. Departure for golf is at 8:30am from Pizza Lawn, tee-off at 10:00am. Please sign-up on the enclosed registration form or online at cate.org/alumni.

Join Betty Woodworth and archivist Ginger Williams in the Archives with lemonade and cookies to answer your questions and reminisce about Cate of yesteryear. We will have an open forum discussion where we hope you will share tales of early days at Cate.

Pick up a boxed, kid-friendly meal in the dining hall.
 
6:00–8:00pm Reception Honoring Cate Faculty

Celebrate your return to the Mesa with your classmates and members of the outstanding Cate School faculty. Enjoy a bounty of hors d’oeuvres. After the the reception, your class may wish to continue the evening with reservations at one of Santa Barbara’s fine restaurants (list available on cate.org/alumni). (2.5 miles, starts from the track)
Lace up your running shoes and join Math Faculty Tim Smith for a refreshing run around the Mesa! Race t-shirts will be given to all participants, as well as a prize for both the male and female winners.

Create an income stream, reduce current and estate taxes, and support Cate all at once! Join Major Gifts Director Chris Giles for a casual conversation about a few easy tools that maintain your financial security and allow you to support Cate.

Join Head of Outdoor Programs Paul Denison ’79 as you scale walls and leap from great heights! No experience necessary. Children under 12 must be with an adult.

Join the Class of 1993 and test your croquet and bocce ball skills or take a swim in one of the new pools! A bounce house and games will be available for children.
 
1:00–2:30pm Class of ’08 Back Country Hike
(Meet in the McIntosh Room)
Join the Class of 2008, Outdoor Program Director Ned Bowler ’83 in a 90-minute, mildly strenuous hike up to Bee Camp. Wear sneakers/ hiking boots and long pants. Water bottles will be available. Suggested age is 7 years or older. Hiking without a Cate School certified guide is strictly prohibited.

Join Science Faculty Wendi Butler on the Cate Nature Trail as she leads a leisurely walk highlighting the flora and fauna of the Mesa.

Join Curriculum Committee Chair Patrick Collins and Director of Studies Lisa Holmes to learn about Cate’s most recent curriculum initiatives and to discuss the changing environment of education in the world today. Also discuss Cate’s distinctive place in the shifting world of independent schools. For those interested in K-12 education development, this is an opportunity not to be missed!

Join Cate Fund Director Colin Donovan for this Camp Cate classic. All levels are welcome, as well as spouses and guests. The tournament will be in round robin format. (A few racquets may be available).

Please be considerate of check-out time as cleaning is scheduled to begin at 11:00am.

 

Also available for your use:

  • The E.L. Wiegand Community Center: Always open. Enjoy board games, ping pong, foosball, a pool table, and television.
  • Emmett Horowitz Aquatic Center: Open from 8:00am-7:30pm. There is no lifeguard, to be able to swim at least three people must be in the pool area. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Athletic Facilities: Open from 7:00am-9:00pm. Check out sports equipment from CCHQ and join in on a game of basketball, tennis, volleyball, or squash.
  • Harcourt Fitness Center: Open from 7:00am-9:00pm. Guests 18 or older only please.
  • McBean Library: Open from 10:00am-5:00pm. Check out Cate's library or use the computers to access the Internet. Newspapers are available in the McIntosh Room.
