Gregory-  If I hadn’t known Austin before my freshman year, I don’t know if I would have wanted to meet him…I mean his hair was green.

Austin-  No seriously, it got pretty green pretty fast.  Each day after water polo I noticed my hair would become progressively greener.  I tried so many different products until this one time when my mother gave me this special powder. She told to put the powder in my hair, cover it with tin foil and then hot iron it for about 30 min. Once I took of the tin foil I asked my mom how it looked and she said it was ok, definitely not green anymore. I quickly went down stairs and looked in the mirror to see that my hair was in fact no longer green. It was orange.

Gregory-  You looked like a pumpkin.

Austin-  Ya well I at least I didn’t look like a unicorn.  For those of you that don’t know what I'm talking about…Gregory used an excessive amount of hair styling product.

Gregory-  If we had merely judged each other based on our hairstyles and stopped there, we wouldn’t have become the friends we are today.

Gregory-  So freshman year Austin and I hit up that day student mixer at the William’s house with our other crane friends.  Annie, Erin, Blake, Austin and I are all standing around in very causal clothing…The ladies are wearing casual sun dresses while the men are wearing simple polos with shorts…We’re talking about our crane days and how we’re super excited to be in high school.  All of the sudden we see this kid…he’s wearing a blue dress shirt with and sweater vest on top…khakis, a belt and dress shoes.  We’re all like who is this kid?  He’s so…formal.

Austin-  We couldn't decide whether or not to introduce ourselves…so finally…I think it was Erin…goes up to this mysterious, conservative freshman and introduces herself…and the rest of us follow suit. We could have left and moved on, but fortunately we stayed and got to know him a little better.

Gregory-   We ended up sitting down in a circle of chairs…and this kid busts out a pair of orange rimmed sun glasses… and were all like…get out of town…this kid is awesome…so flash forward 3 years …Who would have know that Kelford Mitchel, at first seemingly reserved, could become one of our best friends.

Austin-  There have been many people over the years that we would have never gotten to know if we had just stopped at that first introduction. We would like to highlight a few fan favorites for you. When you first think of TOM LEE or sometimes known as TL, you think of brain bee champion. But if you take the time to get to know this guy a little better you’ll see that’s just the beginning.

Gregory-  For example freshman year Liem would freeze fruits with Austin and me and then insist that we go outside and hit them off the mesa with a baseball bat. Ya well TOM LEE what if we just took your trophy, froze it, and then smashed that off the mesa.   You know we kid.

Austin-  Some of you may not know that TL loves and I mean loves to trip people….  So much so that every day in Chinese class when we get up to turn in our assignments, he sneaks his foot out with a straight face, hoping to watch us fall right in front of him. Besides tripping people, Than Liem has developed other passions. In the late great words of TL in order of first to last …(and I quote)…, “my favorite things in life are pretty girls, Lamborghinis, and brains.”  Finally, while TL does seem at times reserved, get to know him and you’ll find out he is one of the most thoughtful, and humble kids you’ll ever know.

Gregory-  So at the beginning of junior year, Austin and I get our class schedules. We look down and see US history with uhhh Mr. Jearez Newsome.  According to Juarez, the ladies know him as him BIG neus.

Austin-  So on the first day of class we’re just sitting there and he asks everyone who wants to read today. We’ve both had him last year and know that he makes the first person who reads, read everything for the entire year. So we’re staring at each other like who’s gonna do it.  So we see Miles Barney’s hand rocket up…and we both look look at each other and we “oh no not miles”…  Little did he know he wouldn’t be reading for just this one class, but for all 564 hours plus or minus 10 hours…we don’t really know…

Gregory-  Let’s not get away form the real reason this class is funny…that’s Big Nues.

Austin-  The way he teaches is completely absurd…but we have probably learned more in his class than any other class we have taken.

Gregory-  Let us give you a demo---I’m Abby Killea.

Austin-  And I’m Newsome.

Newsome skit

Gregory-  We have also come to realize that Newsome has a completely unique sense of style…I mean have you seen him rock the sock with the sandals.

Austin-  Some of you may not have noticed this, but he has seem to become attached to this black, braveheart lacrosse hoodie with numerous holes in it…for 4 years we have seen Newsome sport this sweatshirt every single night…leaving us to question how long he’s actually owned it.

Gregory-  Now our styles have changed drastically over the years.

Austin-  Except for this one essential item.

Gregory-  They come in shallow, medium, deep, extra deep, and deeper

Austin-  V-necks

Gregory-  Now, we’ve compiled a list of rules; guidelines of sort, for clothing.

  1. Always dress to impress
  2. Comfort comes second  (However, both can be achieved with practice)
  3. Less is more Think of formal dinner as a country club
  4.  This list has varied throughout the years however just ONE rule has remained the same.

Austin-  Kelford Mitchel is still sexy.

7.     Gregory-  Have you seen his abs?

8.     Austin- He woos women.

9.     Gregory-  And men

10. Austin-  with his sensuous and godlike voice and guitar playing.

We have looked back on everything that has happened to us in these 3 years and have learned through our experiences to become more true to ourselves and let the Austin and Gregory out.  When we act as ourselves, we are able to positively affect our quality of life and create memories that last.

Random facts

Gregory- So now, how many of you like Christiano Ronaldo…Real Madrid forward…ring any bells?  Well, in a recent game against a Croatian soccer game…fans booed Christiano Ronaldo.  His response to this booing was "I think that because I am rich, handsome and a great player people are envious of me.  I don't have any other explanation."  Really no other explenation?  Maybe its because you gel your hair for a sports game.

And for all you nay sayers…Landon Donovan is the greatest soccer player in the world.

Austin-  So now, we are both Sophomore TAs.  We both hang out in the library and are apparently (according to T shultz) as loud as African Elephants.

Gregory-  We’d like to take this time to say one thing to the librarians.

Austin-  We would also like to give a shout out to the best dorm on campus…the library… Kelford, Lela, Reid, Blake, Tom Lee, Sydney Reed, Cody Sugarman, Aaron Karlsberg, Adrian, Jamie Jared, Brendan Lokre, Brewer, T Shultz, Carla Garcia.

Gregory-  I’d also like to give a shout out to my sophsem…If you put my sophomore seminar all in a blender of greatness you'd get a strawberry milk shake cause there sweet.

Austin- I wanted to give a shout out to the better soph sem or as we call ourselves, The Cum Chops.

Austin- I want to give a shout out to my brother Brendan Lokre, he's one of the best guys I know and I'm really glad I get to share my senior year with you. I love you big guy.

Gregory-  And in the words of Ricky Bobby…listen up cate school…if you’re not first…

AustinYour last.
