Senior Exit Program

May 26, 2017

The senior exit program for the class of 2017 kicked off on Monday, May 22. The program represents a week of activities designed to set students off on the right foot, for their lives in college and beyond. On the first morning, seniors met in the Hitchcock Theatre to watch documentaries concerning serious issues such as assault, binge drinking, and hazing. Discussion followed each movie. The next day at an all-class brunch at Mesa House, Shafia Zaloom ’89 gave the keynote address. Zaloom is a health educator at The Urban School in San Francisco. She spoke to the class about healthy relationships, bystander intervention, and consent.

Later in the week, the seniors were able to attend sessions led by Cate faculty. Students chose from yoga, financial planning, resumé writing and networking, college life on a budget, car maintenance, and how to avoid the freshman fifteen. The class of 2017 also attended a Q and A with recent Cate alumni who shared their experience and insights into their college lives. The busy week was interspersed with a Tuesday Talk, a BBQ, the senior-faculty kickball game, an appearance by the burger truck. On Sunday, May 28 the Class of 2017 will receive their diplomas during Cate’s 104th Commencement.
