Girls Varsity Lacrosse vs Chaminade

May 8, 2017

The Cate girls varsity lacrosse team had their amazing season come to an end on Saturday, May 6 in the North Section Finals against the #1 ranked Chaminade Eagles. The team worked hard, improved their play with each minute, but fell 8-6.

The game began with both teams fighting up and down the field for the first 20 minutes and battling (even scrambling) to a 3-3 score. Then, within six minutes, Chaminade scored four goals and led 7-3 at the half.

Credit must be given to the low defense in the second half. Summer Christensen ’17, Eva Herman ’17, Morgan Prinz ’17, Brie Walker ’18, Julia Farner ’18, and Katherine Grossman ’18 were outstanding. They held Chaminade to only one goal in the second half. In fact, Cate outscored Chaminade 3-1 in the second frame.

“The defensive communication and team movement were outstanding. The girls showed their determination and focus until the final whistle. There were many great opportunities and close misses. Unfortunately, this game did not end with us on the winning side,” said Cate Head Coach Renee Mack.

“The team had a remarkable season that reflects their growth and team play. And, I could not be more proud. The season went by too fast,” Mack added.
