Commencement Schedule of Events 2017

The sixty-seven seniors who comprise Cate’s Class of 2017 will receive their diplomas during the School’s traditional Commencement exercises scheduled for Sunday, May 28 at 10 a.m. The ceremony will take place on Commencement Lawn, in the center of the School’s campus. Head of School Ben Williams will confer diplomas on the graduates in the presence of the School’s board of trustees, faculty, students, families, and friends.

The senior class has chosen Dr. Stephanie Yeung, a member of the English Department, to deliver the faculty Commencement address. Francesco Duffy-Boscagli of Santa Barbara, CA will deliver the senior address.

The Sunday ceremony will cap a weekend of festivities and graduation-related gatherings. Parking will be available in the parking lot by Sprague Gym with additional parking on the upper field. Please arrive early for events in order allow at least ten minutes to walk to the campus from the upper field and consider wearing comfortable walking shoes. Attendees should be prepared for all types of weather, including hot sun, or fog, rain, and chilly air.

Saturday’s Baccalaureate speaker is CNN White House Correspondent Athena Jones ’94, who covers President Trump and his cabinet for all the network’s programs and platforms. The student Baccalaureate speakers are Eva Herman of Santa Barbara, CA and Joel Revo of Manchester, VT.

On Monday, May 15, fourteen members of the Class of 2017 were inducted into Cate’s chapter of the Cum Laude Society. William Choi ’05, software developer and engineer gave the address at this year’s ceremony.
