CPO Corner

April 21, 2017

Dear Cate Parents,

Congratulations to all our Walkathon volunteers and especially to Daniele Huerta and Will Holmes for spearheading this great event! Over 240 participants from the Cate community walked six miles from Carpinteria to Summerland. Thousands of dollars were raised for local community organizations including Transition House, Casa Esperanza, The Stephens & Cornerstone Houses, Shepherd’s Place in Carpinteria as well as the Los Ninos program. Great fun was had by all!

We are only days away from Cate’s Spring Family Weekend. The CPO-sponsored Parent Mixer will be held on Thursday, April 27 from 5:30–7:30 p.m. at the Carpinteria Arts Center. Please join us for mixing and mingling with fellow parents and our Cate community! If you haven’t RSVPd, please email me jessicabowlin@rentawheel.com or Sarah Preston at sarah_preston@cate.org.

Don’t miss this year’s school musical “The Drowsy Chaperone” held Thursday through Saturday of Family Weekend. Parents of actors, if you would like to contribute to the Cast Party held on the final night of the play, please contact Margot Dorion at margot_dorion@cate.org to sign up!

Our faculty recognition team is hard at work organizing a Cinco de Mayo event on the Admission Patio on Friday, May 5 at 11:00 a.m. Please contact Gay Browne at gebrowne@gmail.com if you would like to volunteer your time or food donations. This is our last event of the year to let teachers know how much we appreciate them and all they do for our students!

If you happen to be in Sonoma County on Sunday, May 7, please come to the annual Cate Vintner’s Picnic in Healdsburg, California from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Join Ben Williams, Melinda and Greg Dexter P ’18 for an afternoon of wine tasting and socializing in beautiful California wine country. Bring a picnic and join the fun! All current parents, alumni, Cate alumni parents, grandparents, friends and family are welcome to attend! Questions please email: Andrew_MacDonnell@cate.org

Can you believe May 11 is our last CPO meeting of the year? Please join us at 12:00 p.m. in the Johnson Library to hear “the skinny” on Cate School in the final stretch of 2017. There are a lot of activities going on and you don’t want to miss out! If you cannot attend, a Livestream link will allow you to watch it at your leisure.

See you next week on the Mesa!

Servons,

Jessica Bowlin
