Baseball vs Bishop Diego

March 3, 2017

The Cate varsity baseball team opened up the season with a 9-3 loss at Bishop Diego on Thursday, March 2. While the Cardinals are a league opponent, this game was a non-league contest.

Joel Revo ’17 got things started for the Rams and threw a solid four innings while allowing just one hit and four runs (most of which were unearned). Jack Deardorff ’19 came in to pitch in relief and was effective in his first two innings of the season. The Cate defense wasn’t where it needed to be, giving a talented Cardinals team extra outs to work with.

The Rams tallied five hits on the day. Dylan Ell ’17 had two, while Bryce Huerta ’17, Deardorff ’19, and Ed Lee ’17 each had one. Emily Burns ’18 had a standout game for the Rams, squeezing in a run and flashing some great leather on defense.

“This game was a good measure of where we are and where we need to be. We will continue to improve as the season goes on, so that when we meet up with these guys again, we can give ourselves a better chance to be successful,” said Cate Assistant Coach Dave Soto ’08
