Girls Varsity Basketball vs Villanova

The Cate girls varsity basketball team brought home a hard fought league win against the Villanova Wildcats on Thursday, January 12 in Ojai.

The Rams played very tough, with a greater level of composure and confidence than they had shown all year. Elle Smith ’19 was unstoppable under the basket and scored a total of fourteen points. Morgan Prinz ’17 played extremely aggressive defense and held her own offensively. She finished with fifteen rebounds and eight points. Ambre Thiery ’17 ran the offense and helped control the pace of the game. She also ended with eight points.

Piper Brooks ’20 and Maya Blattberg ’20 played huge roles in the win. Brooks ’20 scored six points and played consistently well throughout the game, while Blattberg ’20 scored five points and was a consistent threat both offensively and defensively. Georgia Douglas ’19 came in off the bench and grabbed five rebounds and scored two points. Daphne McKeefry ’19 and Laura Vences ’18 also came off the bench ready and aggressive, helping keep the level of play elevated.

Cate looks to continue it’s winning ways on Tuesday, January 17 on the road against Malibu. Tip-off will be at 6 p.m.
