Cate students and faculty have a enormous variety of technological tools at their disposal. All dorms and classrooms have wireless internet as well as network ports, and the list of other resources available is impressive: LCD projectors, advanced recording studios, multiple workstations, and a fully equipped computer lab. What is particularly remarkable, however, are the many innovative ways students and faculty use these tools. Students build websites for English assignments, use spreadsheets to process and present physics data, and track down books for history research. Computers also provide an additional means for students to be in touch with faculty when they can’t reach them in person. Both students and faculty use the campus network to keep abreast of the day’s schedule, share poetry, and have online discussions on topics ranging from religion to the upcoming dining hall menu. The network, which students can access away from campus, serves as a community bulletin board and clearinghouse. Got a futon to sell?
